Visitors to the SonoWorld web site can access most of the site without
disclosing any personally identifiable information. We do track information
provided to us by your browser, including the web site you came from (known as
the "referring URL"), the type of browser you use, the time and date of access,
and other information that does not personally identify you. We use this
information mainly to determine what technology our visitors are using so that
we can make changes in our web site technology when this appears to be
appropriate.
Some features on the SonoWorld web site require that you register with us.
Features that carry CME credits, for example, require that you register just as
you would if you were attending a live course and we will ask for your name,
address, telephone number, registry number or professional
licensure/certification number so that we can correctly document the results of
your CME activity. When you register to use the SonoWorld Forums (discussion
board, bulletin board), we require you to provide your real name, e-mail
address and to select a username and password. We use this information only if
you violate our terms and conditions for participation in these forums and we
have to contact you.
When we ask for information about you we will clearly indicate which items are
required and which are optional and may be omitted. When you provide this
information we sometimes ask if we may communicate with you, such as to notify
you when new features are added to SonoWorld. In all such cases, you must
voluntarily agree to receive such communications and you can always withdraw
your permission at any time.
One feature of SonoWorld is a database of information (your personal Profile)
about registered participants in the Site. This information helps us understand
you and your preferences, and helps us determine what new features to add to
SonoWorld over time. We appreciate the trust that you show when you complete a
detailed profile and we are committed to protecting the privacy of that
information. We will not sell, rent or trade your profile information to
anyone. We use security procedures to protect personal information you submit
to us from misuse or unauthorized disclosure. Any personal information you
provide to us through completing a registration or your personal Profile is
stored in secure databases behind an electronic firewall. You can access and
change your Profile only by using a password. We encourage you to change your
password regularly and not to share it with anyone. However, like other
Internet sites, we cannot guarantee that your personal information is
completely secure from people who might attempt to evade security measures or
intercept transmissions over the Internet. As with most e-mail communications
that are transmitted over the Internet, e-mail communications with SonoWorld
are not secure as they are not encrypted.
SonoWorld may set and access cookies on your computer. Cookies are a technology
used by the SonoWorld web site to identify a visitor as you move through the
web site. Your browser allows us to place a small text file on your computer's
hard drive that identifies the computer you are using. We may use cookies to
personalize SonoWorld features and to track your usage when you are using the
site. Your web browser can be set to accept or reject cookies, or you can be
notified each time a cookie is sent to you. The Help section of your browser
will tell you how to prevent your browser from accepting cookies.
We create aggregate data about visitors to SonoWorld. Aggregate information is
pooled data that does not contain personally identifiable data. We may provide
this information to our sponsors or to business partners.
We have strategic relationships with other companies who offer products and
services through SonoWorld. For example, if you order a book through SonoWorld,
you may be directed to Amazon.com or another company and they may require you
to provide identifying information and credit card information. We do not
control the collection or use of information you provide under those
circumstances, but we do require that those companies clearly state their
policies so you can decide whether to give them any information.
The SonoWorld web site is hosted by a commercial service and work on the site
is performed by several companies outside SonoWorld. In order to fulfill these
functions personnel in those companies may have limited access to the contents
of SonoWorld, including your personal information. We require all companies
that have such access to agree to the same privacy protection standards which
we maintain.
We periodically conduct surveys of selected web site participants and, if you
have given us permission to do so, may contact you with a request that you
participate in such a survey. You are always free to decline to participate and
you may always withdraw your permission for us to contact you for such
purposes.
In the event that the assets of SonoWorld or its parent company
MedimageWorld.com, L.L.C. are sold or merged with another company we will
require that the purchasing or partner company agree to maintain the SonoWorld
privacy policy and to continue protection of your personally identifiable
information.
This privacy policy only applies to the SonoWorld web site. We are not
responsible for other web sites you may access through links from SonoWorld.
