Presentation This is the scan of the abdominal aorta in a 40-year-old man with this established diagnosis.

Caption: Transverse view of the abdominal aorta
Description: The aortic luminal diameter is enlarged to aneurismal size. A linear echogenic line is seen within the aneurysm diameter, suggestive of an intimal flap.

Caption: Sagittal scan of the aorta
Description: The linear echogenic intimal flap is noted here in the sagittal scan, dividing the aortic lumen into a true lumen and a false lumen.

Caption: Transverse and sagittal color Doppler scans
Description: Flow can be demonstrated within both the true and the false lumen.

Differential Diagnosis Dissection of abdominal aortic aneurysm

Final Diagnosis Dissection of abdominal aortic aneurysm

Follow Up This study showed no interval change in the chronically dissected abdominal aortic aneurysm.
