Patellar fracture with a hematoma

Presentation A 43 year old man presented after trauma to right knee. An ultrasound of the right knee was performed.
 
 
 
Caption: Sagittal view of the patellar region
Description: This scan near the edge of patella demonstrates a disruption of the normal curving surface of the patella with overlap of the edges of the two sections. A hypoechoic collection is also noted in the infrapatellar pouch.

Description: A more medial plane demonstrates the separation of the fragment from the body of the patella. The small hypoechoic collection is noted again in the infrapatellar region and most likely represents a small hematoma.
