Presentation
This is a 45-year old woman, status post hysterectomy- 2 weeks. An ultrasound of the pelvis was performed due to pain in the lower abdomen
Caption:
Sagittal transabdominal image of the pelvis
Description:
A complex, heterogeneous mass with ill-defined margins is seen in the pelvis at the hysterectomy site. The mass shows mixed hypo and hyperechoic areas.
Caption:
Transverse transabdominal image of the pelvis
Description:
The hypoechoic areas in the mass contain low level echoes. The probe pressure produced tenderness over this region.
Caption:
Color Doppler of the concerned area
Description:
No vascularity is demonstrated within this collection.
Differential Diagnosis
Post-op hematoma, post-op abscess
Final Diagnosis
Post-operative hematoma
Follow Up
This collection was aspirated and the diagnosis confirmed. The hematoma gradually resolved.
