Author(s) :
Ravi Kadasne, MD
Presentation A young woman presented with dull pain in the right side of the lower abdomen. An ultrasound was performed.
Caption: Ultrasound of the right adnexa
Description: A well-defined, oval, predominantly cystic mass is seen in the right adnexa, not separate from the ipsilateral ovary. The mass shows highly echogenic areas within, suggestive of lipid content or calcification. This is suggestive of a dermoid.
Caption: CT scan of the pelvis
Description: The right ovarian mass is seen and the ultrasound findings of an ovarian dermoid are confirmed. The mass displays fat density and calcifications as well.
Caption: CT scan of the pelvis
Description: This image also demonstrates the typical CT features of ovarian dermoid, confirming the ultrasound findings.
Differential Diagnosis Right ovarian mass – dermoid, malignancy
Final Diagnosis Right ovarian dermoid
