Diaphragmatic eventration

Suseela Vavilala, MD

This is a 26-year-old-primigravida referred to our service at 39 weeks. A diaphragmatic hernia with herniation of stomach and bowel was suspected. The baby was born vaginally, weighting 3,900g. The pediatric surgeon examined the baby and suggested a diaphragmatic eventration as a diagnosis. The baby underwent the surgery and a diaphragmatic eventration was confirmed. The plication of diaphragm  was done. There were no complications and the baby was discharged after 6 days.
