Case report
Following images and videos show a case of
coarctation of the aorta
in a 27 year-old woman (G1P0) with unremarkable history. The diagnosis was strongly suspected although the almost normal sagittal views of the aorta.
We referred the patient to a tertiary center with experience in cardiovascular surgery.
The newborn was delivered at term and treated with prostaglandine from the first day.
He underwent surgery and the postoperative course was uneventful.

Ultrasound performed at 22 weeks of pregnancy showing four chamber view of the heart with Right-Left disproportion and three vessel view showing narrow of the aorta compared with the pulmonary artery.
Images 3, 4 and Video 2:
2D axial gray-scale images in the 3VT view showing persistent left superior cava vein (violet circle in image 4), an anomaly commonly associated with aortic coarctation.
LSCV - Left Superior Cava Vein; PA - Pulmonary Artery; Ao - Aorta; SCV - Superior Cava Vein
Video 3:
Doppler color examination in the three vessel view showing small aorta compared to pulmonary artery and persistent left superior cava vein.
Video 4, 5:
Longitudinal views of the aorta in gray-scale and doppler color show almost normal examination with exception of doppler turbulence at the level of the isthmus and descending aorta.
