Winners of the case of the week for 2015 - Winners' list
This is the 17th year that we are posting the list of winners. Overall 376 participants found at least one correct answer for our cases of the week this year. Many more people just looked and tried to solve our cases from time to time. Congratulations to all successful solvers! I would also like to thank all of those who had the generosity of their time to share their cases; would not be able to continue without those. 
Particular thanks, as always goes to Moshe Bronshtein and Fabrice Cuillier, and all those who send us their difficult cases used as cases of the week. 
We thank to all our solvers for their answers and their brilliant deductions.

Dmitry is our top winner this year!

Dmitry works as a gynecologist and obstetrician. He lives in Orsk, a small city in Orenburg’s region in Russia. He is married and has two children: Mark is 3 and Darya is 8 years old. 

He had never thought of becoming a doctor, however, his father, who is also a doctor, changed his mind ten years ago.


Dmitry regularly follows our cases of the weeks and likes to study them. He said “If I do not know a pathology, TheFetuNet community will help me”.


Azer Farajov

Azer is a 38 year-old radiologist fully focused on fetal ultrasound in the last four years. 
He wants to thank his dear teacher Denis Wood at Tomas Jefferson FMF depar
tment, to share his knowledge in fetal cardiology, and his wife and his three children for their great support.
Actually Azer is working in a private hospital and he is one of the founders of the
Azerbaijan Advancing Training Institute of Doctors, where he gives lectures related to fetal medicine.
His hobbies are fetal medicine and trave
lling: he likes to drive long distances twice a year.

Dr. Shah is a gynecologist and also an expert in fetal medicine, working at Astha Hospital Deesa, India, with his wife Dr Nilpa (also gynecologist).

Sameh Abdel Latif Abdel Salam

Sameh is 29 years old, graduated from faculty of medicine Cairo University at May 2010, and completed his 3 years residency training in diagnostic and interventional radiology at Kasr Al Ainy hospitals in 2014 with great interest in fetal echo. He has performed hundreds of studies cases with his brother Dr. Islam Badr.

Now, he is working as an assistant lecturer in the radiology department Cairo University and performing a fellowship in Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation to study the role of different imaging modalities in congenital heart diseases.

Victoria lives in beautiful southern city of Stavropol, Russia. She works in the Regional diagnostic center, focused on prenatal diagnosis for 11 years and she loves her job.

Her hobbies are growing orchids, painting landscapes and visiting art galleries. Her favorite artists are Claude Monet and Kuinki.

Dr. Kosmas lives in Agrinio - small, but beautiful town at the west Greece. 
He works as
a gynecologist and obstetrician, focused in fetal medicine. He does surgeries at the most famous private clinic at the west Greece, the Ippocratios Clinic created by Marco Krikeli at the 1960 and a very good midwife Papagianni Elpis.

He loves his wife Tjorgia, his daughter Dafni, and son Alexandros. Of course he also loves fetal medicine.



Juan Enrique Van der Velde

Dr. Van der Velde works in one of the best public maternity hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as a head the high risk department, and also works as a sonographer in another hospital. 

His interest in prenatal diagnosis started when he listened
to a lecture of Dr. Jeanty during his visit to his country, which has changed the way of approach to his clinical cases.

He is also a huge fan of Boca Juniors, one of the best soccer team in the world... (Federico: totally agree with him!!! J).

Olga has been involved in prenatal diagnosis for 9 years, but she stated answering our cases only two years ago. She is married, has three children and one lovely granddaughter. 
Olga works as a gynecologist in a small private medical center.

Larisa lives in the city of Krivoi Rog, Dnepropetrovsk Region, in the center of Ukraine. She works in "Regional center of Medical genetics and prenatal diagnostics” in Krivoi Rog as a gynecologist and fetal diagnostic sonologist.

Anette Beverdam

Anette has been educated as a physiotherapist and sonographer, with over 25 years of experience.

Currently she is working as a sonographer in a peripheral hospital in Almelo and, main activity, in the Radboud university medical center in Nijmegen. She works as a part of a strong team where sharing of learning experiences is considered to be very important.
Her latest experience (and a very wonderful one) was educating a group of professionals in Onandjokwe Hospital in Namibia.

Every year she and her colleagues sit down and talk about the goals for the year and this was her goal, so...Well done!!!
One of her favorite things to do is make a cup of tea, get into bed at night and "do TheFetus".

She is in charge sonographer at a small hospital on the East coast of New Zealand, and works with people who inspire and challenge her to better herself every day.
She loves ultrasound and said to us ¨We are very remote so are jack of all trades sonographers striving to become masters of all rather than none¨. 
She is married and has two children, Alice is 9 and Eddie 6. She loves to cook as does the rest of her colleagues so learning days are often accompanied by food (send us samples J)!.

In the last year and a half Ana completed a sonography program in the United States, became ARDMS registered in OB/Gyn and Abdomen, and moved to the Netherlands with her family. 
She is learning Dutch and looking for an opportunity to work there, so

Her main areas of interest are first trimester ultrasound, ultrasonography of posterior fossa structures of the brain and fetal heart.

It has been already six years since I send my answer every two weeks and sometimes I get an excellent!!!, some others I don’t… but I always learn something. I believe that there are four fundamental sources of information for the exercise of a health care activity. First, courses and congresses promoted by scientific societies or medical departments (some of them online). Second, new and quality books which are periodically published. Third, specialized journals where pioneer researches publish their studies. And finally, the Internet. It is in this last group where outstands¨.
