Case report
The following images show a case of a 36 year-old patient (G1P0) with
low PAPP-A,
admitted in our unit at 32 weeks of gestational age.
In our examination we oberved a two vessel cord (not shown).
Doppler evaluation revealed abnormal fetal vessels passing over the internal cervical OS connecting with the placenta, suggesting the diagnosis of velamentous cord insertion with vasa previa.
The male baby was delivered vía C-section at 37 weeks of pregnancy (2.495 Kg.) without any complication and no other abnormalities. Our findings were confirmed postnatally.
Videos 1 and 2
: Color doppler evaluation of the internal cervical OS and placenta, showing velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord crossing the cervical OS.
Gross pathology
image confirmed the diagnosis.
